a "Mother's Blessing" ceremony is an event that draws inspiration from traditional customs intended to honor and support a woman as she prepares for childbirth. It is often seen as a spiritual or holistic alternative to more conventional baby showers, which tend to focus more on gift-giving and games. The Mother's Blessing is deeply rooted in nurturing the mother-to-be emotionally and spiritually and is influenced by various cultural practices, including the Navajo ceremony known as the Blessingway.
Key Elements of a Mother's Blessing Ceremony Community Support: The focus is on gathering close friends and family who are supportive and positive, creating a circle of love and strength around the mother-to-be. Symbolic Gestures: Bead Ceremony: Each guest brings a bead that holds personal significance, and these beads are strung together to create a bracelet or necklace that the mother wears during labor. Binding of Wrists: Using yarn or ribbons, the wrists of all participants are tied together to symbolize unity and support. These are often cut at the end of the ceremony to represent the mother's release into the birthing process. Flower Crowns: Crafting flower crowns for the mother-to-be to wear, symbolizing beauty, life, and new beginnings. Sharing of Wisdom: Guests may be invited to share stories, advice, or blessings for motherhood. This can include personal anecdotes, traditional wisdom, or written blessings. Important Notes:
For safety reasons, we do not offer services at beaches or parks that require stair access. The latest pick-up time for any public space, including parks and beaches, is 7pm. Services at venues or backyards with stair access are permitted, subject to a stair fee. The latest pick-up time for backyards or venues is 9pm. Requests for pick-ups later than this will result in an overnight rental, with pick-up scheduled for the next day.
Per city regulations, all beaches and parks in Newport, Laguna, Corona Del Mar (CDM), Malibu, and Dana Point require a permit for picnics, and no beach picnic is allowed without one. Please call the city to confirm or to apply for permit.
For events with more than 30 attendees, please notify us at least two weeks in advance to ensure smooth planning. Additionally, before finalizing your arrangements, contact us to confirm the availability of sufficient tables and equipment. Availability on your desired date does not guarantee we can accommodate a large group exceeding 30 people. For such gatherings, be prepared to have a combination of two types of tables: espresso wood and white wash. Both styles are similar in design but differ in finish.
